Category C Firearms Safety Course

This course is designed for individuals seeking a Queensland Category C Firearms Licence, covering restricted longarms used for approved occupational and authorised purposes.

Category C firearms include:

  • Semi-automatic rimfire rifles (up to 10-round capacity)
  • Semi-automatic shotguns (up to 5-round capacity)
  • Pump action shotguns (up to 5-round capacity)

These firearms are subject to strict regulation under Queensland firearms legislation and are generally only approved for specific occupational, primary production, clay target shooting, or authorised use cases.

Whether you are applying for occupational purposes, primary production requirements, or approved sporting activities, this course is structured to develop safe handling practices, legal understanding, and responsible firearm use.

CQ Elite Readiness Group provides firearms safety training and practical shooting instruction across Rockhampton, Emerald, Longreach, Yeppoon, and various locations throughout Central Queensland depending on operational requirements and group bookings.

Training may be conducted at:
• Approved shooting ranges
• Approved private property locations
• Rural and remote training environments
• Group booking locations by arrangement

Flexible scheduling, private group bookings, and rural training options may be available for individuals, organisations, sporting groups, and operational teams.

Booking Requirements

  • 50% deposit required to secure your booking upon receiving invoice and joining instruction.
  • Remaining balance payable before commencement of training.

Full course including theory and practical training: $200

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Due to the restricted nature of Category C firearms and Queensland licensing requirements, all participants are required to complete the practical firearms handling and assessment components of the course.

This ensures all candidates demonstrate the safe handling skills and competency standards required for Category C firearms safety training.

Eligibility Requirements

Category C firearms licences are heavily regulated under Queensland legislation and are generally only approved for:

  • Primary producers
  • Occupational shooters
  • Approved clay target shooters
  • Certain authorised occupational purposes
  • Other approved genuine reasons under Queensland law
